Born in 1991 in Sri Lanka, Namal Kumara’s artistic journey began in his hometown of Galle. He received his primary education at Miriswatta Maha Vidyalaya and later pursued art at Gonagala Maha Vidyalaya. To refine his artistic skills, he joined Art Way Academy in 2010, focusing on sketching and technical mastery. His passion and dedication led him to the University of Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo, where he graduated in 2016.
🎭 Art & Recognition
Namal’s work deeply explores identity, bulls, and gender, offering a unique perspective in contemporary art. His first solo exhibition, “Ruefulness”, was showcased at Saskia Fernando Gallery (2018). In 2016, he was selected for the Imago Mundi Art Exhibition Book Project by the Benetton Foundation, and his works are now part of private collections worldwide.
